MATERIAL GUIDE

Plastic regrinds — cleanliness and material identification.

For regrind, it is important to know what was shredded. Describing the polymer, batch and preparation helps assess whether the material can be reused.

01

How does regrind differ from recycled granulate?

Regrind is material that has been shredded. Shredding alone is not the same as fully preparing recycled granulate. Rapid highlights the importance of regrind quality for stable processing and control of the shredding process.

02

Why does preparation matter?

Rapid highlights cut quality and dust reduction in regrind production. In an enquiry, describe particle size, possible contamination and packaging. Colour alone is not enough.

03

How should you describe a regrind batch?

State the known polymer, origin, quantity and batch consistency. Say whether the material comes from one grade and process or is a mixture. Describe available labels and documentation. If the composition is unconfirmed, say so rather than naming a specific grade.

Frequently asked questions

Should regrind and recycled granulate use the same enquiry?

You can indicate that either form is acceptable, but describe the requirements for each separately. Shredded material may not meet a recycled-granulate specification.

What if I do not know the exact grade?

Provide any available labels, origin and a description of the material. Clearly identify which details are confirmed and which still need to be established.
