MATERIAL GUIDE

Compounds — modified plastics for a specific part.

A compound is defined by more than its polymer type. Start with the part’s function, then describe the base material, additives and required properties.

01

Polymer base and modification

Compounds can be tailored by selecting the polymer base and additives. Examples include polyamides reinforced with glass fibre or minerals. BASF offers grades with different viscosities and additives, so the PA6 designation alone does not describe the full formulation.

What does GF mean in an enquiry?

GF indicates glass-fibre reinforcement. State its declared content, the full grade name and supporting documentation rather than relying on the abbreviation alone. Materials from the same family may differ in other ingredients and intended use.

How should you describe production requirements?

Describe the part, operating conditions, colour and properties that need confirmation. Say whether you need a specific grade or are open to evaluation. Include expectations for samples, documentation and material approval in your process.

KRAKOW / LESSER POLAND / POLAND

Krakow and Lesser Poland.
Open to companies across Poland.

We accept compound enquiries from companies in Krakow, Lesser Poland and across Poland. Describe the application, qualification requirements and planned delivery location. Say whether proximity to the material source is important.

Frequently asked questions

Is a compound the same as recycled material?

They describe different characteristics. A compound refers to a prepared material formulation, while recycled granulate describes material form after reprocessing. State the formulation or required properties separately from feedstock origin.

Can an equivalent be selected based on PA6 GF30 alone?

The abbreviation alone cannot confirm equivalence. Compare grade data sheets against the part requirements; acceptance should follow your material qualification process.
